What does your future look like? Your business, your goals, your brand, what is your future?

The Future is Now

Start building your future today. One of the great things about web design and development is the ability to shape the future. We don't just build websites for clients, we help them build their vision, their future. For me, this is the most exciting part of web design, bringing to life someone's idea of where they want to go.

This concept, building the future, is, I feel, greatly overlooked. You, as a client, deserve a designer and developer who will help you reach your goals, and build your vision. Far too often we see the same template or layout for small business websites. Why not push the boundaries, why not be bold?

The Future is Limitless

The best part about your future is that it can be anything. This is why we ask questions about how you want your visitors to feel, what you want them to do etc. To get you thinking about what you want your digital experience to be, to define what your visitor's experience will be. These questions get you thinking about the future and how your website will be a part of your business. Do you want visitors to sign up for something, purchase an item, view your products? These questions help shape the future of your business.

Besides thinking about the what, you should focus on the why and how. How will your experience guide users, how will they feel, how will they find what they're looking for? Start defining this interaction and experience as early as you can. This can really have a huge impact on the design of your website.

Why. Why is one of the most important things to ask. As humans, we make a lot of decisions based on our emotions and gut feelings. When you are looking at the future don't focus on what you sell or offer and how your product is better. Focus on why. There is an idea, called the Golden Circle, about the importance of knowing why you are doing what you are doing, this idea is explained by Simon Sinek in his Ted Talk "How great leaders inspire action."

"People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it. If you talk about what you believe, you will attract those who believe what you believe."

Simon Sinek also explains what he means by "why":

And by "why" I don't mean "to make a profit." That's a result. It's always a result. By "why," I mean: What's your purpose? What's your cause? What's your belief? Why does your organization exist? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? And why should anyone care?

So when you are starting to build your vision, your future, why is one of the single most valuable things you can figure out. Remember, "people don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it."

Welcome To the Future

At Black Label Web Design we have started using "Welcome to the future" as a way to represent this idea. Building or updating your website is the start of your future. It is the start of something new, a new vision, a new direction. Your business has updated and evolved with technology and isn't stuck in the past, but is your website stuck in the past? If it is then it might be time for you to start thinking about your future.

So, what does your future look like?
